It was a mild, sunny morning in Worthing when Predators lined up against Worthing Town Black, at the Palatine Park ground in Goring.
First Half
Predators went 1-0 up early on, when Alex finished off a run on the left with a cross/shot, which whipped towards the goal and unfortunately for Worthing was fumbled by the keeper and into the net.
Worthing didn’t have to wait too long to equalise, when they won a free kick in the middle of the field. It was launched towards the goal and goalie Ryan couldn’t quite keep hold of it, with an attacker forcing the ball into the back of the net from close range.
The next chance fell to Predators when Alex was fouled on the left wing. Ethan took the resulting free kick which he floated into the area, and Jacob’s diving header couldn’t quite connect with the ball, for what would have been a certain goal.
Predators then went 2-1 up just before half time as a result of another free kick just outside the area. Daniel’s shot went towards the goal and the Worthing keeper parried it away, but luckily Alex was in the right place at the right time to tuck away the loose ball.
Half Time : Worthing Town Black 1 – Predators 2
Second Half
After the lively first half, neither team really took charge in the second. The midfielders were trying to take control but both sets of defenders stood firm and denied further goals.
Towards the end Worthing won a flurry of corners which seriously tested the Predators’ defence. The outstanding moment of the match was an instinctive point blank save by Ryan to deny a certain goal by Worthing.
